Where did the old algebra I go?

Sf unified presented at nctm Boston. I screenshotted their slide that explains what I believe a sequence where students will succeed more in their 9th grade years and of course more in their 8th grade years with slope and scatter plots (they call it bivariate data or 2 variable data)

Also I heard Phil Daro speak at Mills about common core. In this photo the leader of SVMI, David Foster, shows the differences between old algebra I and common core algebra I.
